For years, Underground Racing has been dominating the drag racing scene with their turbocharged supercar modifications, often exceeding 2,000 horsepower. Some of their lower-tier Lamborghini Gallardo builds could even outperform a Bugatti Veyron, one of the fastest production cars ever made. While there are many options for wealthy drag racers looking to experience high speed, such as AMS Alpha Nissan GT-Rs and Callaway Corvettes, the presence of a V-10 powered drag car is quite rare, making these twin-turbo giants a thrilling sight at events. After Lamborghini ceased production of the Gallardo in 2014, UGR needed a new flagship model and turned to its successor, the Huracan.

A recent video from the YouTube channel 1320video, which covers both official drag races and unsanctioned street racing, features one of the first Underground Racing Huracan X2 package cars. The Huracan’s high-revving 5.2-liter V-10 engine, which shares its lineage with the Gallardo’s engine, made the upgrade an easier task for UGR, as many components only required minor modifications to fit the newer engine. The footage was taken during TX2K17, an annual drag racing event held at Royal Purple Raceway in Texas.

According to the driver, who is likely associated with UGR, the car is equipped with the X2 Package, which is currently not listed on the company’s website. Since the existing X Package for the Huracan has a power output exceeding 2,200 horsepower when using race fuel, it is reasonable to assume that the X2 being tested could deliver even more power, faster spool times, and improved power delivery, although the exact figures remain unknown. Cars at this performance level typically have a stripped-down interior, a roll cage, a parachute, and drag racing tires. However, this particular car is designed to function as a street vehicle, retaining its interior while replacing the paddle-shifted transmission with a more durable sequential manual transmission.

A horsepower rating of 2,200 may not be considered practical for everyday use, but it’s certainly impressive to have a car that can dominate the drag strip while also providing a comfortable ride home..
