Aston Martin Unveils the Vantage AMR: A New Era of High-Performance Sports Cars
Aston Martin has introduced the Vantage AMR, a high-performance variant akin to AMG’s offerings for Mercedes-Benz. This model takes the brand’s most successful sports car, the Vantage, and enhances it with a focus on speed, exclusivity, and rigorous development on the Nurburgring circuit.
Limited to a mere 300 units, the Vantage AMR draws its racing inspiration from the WEC acclaimed V8 Vantage GTE. Like its predecessors—the V8 Vantage and V12 Vantage—the AMR offers a choice between a powerful 430 hp V8 engine or an upgraded V12 engine that delivers an impressive 595 hp, up from the previous 565 hp.
Car enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the Vantage AMR offers a manual transmission option—comprising a six-speed for the V8 and a distinctive seven-speed for the V12. For those who prefer a more automated experience, a paddle-shift automatic transmission is also available.
Buyers can choose between coupe and roadster configurations, resulting in a total of eight potential combinations of engine, transmission, and roof types. For those interested, the configuration of a hardtop V12 with a manual transmission is also an option.
In the UK, the starting price for the Aston Martin Vantage AMR is set at £97,995, approximately $125,000, with deliveries expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2017. The vehicle will be showcased at the 24 Hours of Le Mans event this weekend.
