The Ram Power Wagon stands out as the brand’s flagship off-road truck. Claimed to be the most capable off-road vehicle currently available, it is frequently utilized by agencies like the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol for enforcement operations. To introduce something new, Ram plans to launch a special edition of the Power Wagon later this year, known as the Mojave Sand edition.
Built on the 2500 Heavy Duty Ram pickup, the Power Wagon is equipped with a robust 6.4-liter V8 engine. Enhanced ride height and underbody protection ensure the truck can navigate rough terrains. It features locking front and rear axles to tackle the toughest challenges, along with a sway bar that can disconnect in the front and rear for improved wheel articulation. For those rare occasions when it might get stuck, the truck includes a factory-installed winch capable of pulling up to 12,000 pounds.
“Power Wagon is extraordinarily capable off-road and provides both the towing and payload required in a heavy-duty truck,” Jim Morrison, head of the Ram brand, remarked about its capabilities.
The new Mojave Sand trim remains largely the same as the already impressive Power Wagon, showcasing the eye-catching Mojave Sand exterior paint complemented by a set of striking all-black wheels. While the changes may seem minimal, they are significant enough for enthusiasts.
According to Fiat Chrysler, the Mojave Sand color was the fastest-selling option for the half-ton Ram Rebel, making it a fitting choice for the first application on a Ram Heavy Duty model, specifically the Power Wagon. The interior is designed in all-black and includes the brand’s 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, as well as the Heavy Duty Luxury Group package, which features power folding mirrors, a universal garage door opener, and LED bed lighting.
The 2018 Ram Power Wagon Mojave Sand edition is set to hit the market in the fourth quarter of this year, with a starting price of $54,830 (plus a $1,695 destination fee), and will be limited to just 1,500 units..
