Nearly two decades after its production ended, the Porsche Carrera GT is receiving an update. In a collaboration with Michelin, Porsche has developed new ultra-high-performance tires for its V10 supercar, aimed at enhancing both performance and safety.

Michelin states that these new tires utilize advanced technologies and innovative rubber compounds. The design of the high-performance tires has been optimized to improve their performance in both wet and dry driving conditions.

Porsche development driver Jörg Bergmeister expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Carrera GT is an absolute dream car. I’m thrilled that these new tires have elevated the performance of this legendary vehicle.”

Bergmeister added, “Creating new tires for a car that’s been out of production for 20 years is quite uncommon. It demonstrates the ongoing significance of the Carrera GT and its owners to Porsche.”

The new tires feature two distinct rubber compounds. Silicic acid is applied to the inner shoulder to enhance grip on wet surfaces, while the outer shoulder compound is tailored for dry conditions. The tires’ contact patch was optimized through extensive testing of driving dynamics and handling, including trials on the renowned Nürburgring Nordschleife.
