Title: Depreciation Hits Hard: A Look at the 2006 S65 AMG

German luxury vehicles are typically celebrated for their remarkable speed, exquisite comfort, and, unfortunately for their owners, significant depreciation. Among the most affected are the Mercedes-Benz AMG models, as exemplified by a 2006 S65 AMG. Originally purchased for around $200,000, this vehicle, which has been with the same owner since new and has nearly 150,000 miles on the clock, recently sold for a staggering $3,750.

YouTuber SuperspeedersRob visited this unique car to conduct a thorough examination. His review confirmed that the car is in surprisingly good condition, despite its mileage. Besides some typical wear and minor dents, it appears well-maintained for a vehicle in its price range—comparable to that of a used Toyota Corolla.

Equipped with a twin-turbo V12 engine, the S65 AMG was capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, boasting 604 horsepower and an impressive 738 pound-feet of torque. In a video highlight, the car keeps pace with a Lamborghini Murcielago while carrying four passengers—a testament to its power and performance. Finding such a high-performing vehicle at this price point is both thrilling and disheartening, especially for the seller.

This situation reflects an opportunity to acquire a high-end luxury car with top-tier features at an exceptionally low cost. For many, it would be quite the challenge to explore comparable vehicles on the market priced the same, but the findings would likely consist of Ford Tauruses, Honda Accords, and heavily used BMW E36s.
