Following the updates to the S-Class sedan, Mercedes-Benz is refreshing its two-door models for the 2018 lineup. The automaker revealed the updated S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet on Tuesday, just ahead of their official unveiling at the Frankfurt Auto Show next week.

Aside from the distinct body styles, the new S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet incorporate several enhancements compared to the sedan. They will feature a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with cylinder deactivation, generating 463 horsepower. The base model for these variants will be the S560, while the S450 sedan’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 will not be offered in the coupe or cabriolet.

The standout versions of these models are the AMG editions. The AMG S63 will boast a specially crafted AMG variant of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, producing 603 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the more powerful S65 will be equipped with a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that delivers 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. The S63 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, while the S65 takes 4.0 seconds. For those opting for the non-AMG S560, the 0-60 time extends to 4.5 seconds.

New standard features for the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet include OLED taillights, wireless smartphone charging, a Widescreen Cockpit display, Airmatic semi-active air suspension with Road Surface Scan, and the Energizing Comfort system, which adjusts various comfort settings—including climate control, ambient lighting, massage seats, and fragrance functions—to create a tailored experience. The six available programs are Freshness, Warmth, Vitality, Joy, Comfort, and Training.

Pricing details remain unconfirmed; however, the vehicles are expected to be available in the first half of 2018. Given their luxury positioning, it’s unlikely that the starting price will be below $120,000, so interested buyers should start planning their budget if they desire a top-tier two-door luxury experience comparable to Bentley.
