On Friday, Nissan revealed the pricing and updates for the 2018 GT-R, highlighting the introduction of a new entry-level Pure model, which comes at a starting price that is $10,000 less than the previous year’s base price.

In the previous year, buyers could opt for the $109,990 “Premium” model as the most affordable option. For 2018, Nissan is offering the Pure model, which sacrifices several audio features, including the 11-speaker Bose sound system, active noise cancelation, and titanium exhaust. The Pure GT-R is priced at $99,990—just shy of six figures.

The launch of this new “purist” GT-R, which ditches some of the sound enhancements, is an intriguing development, though it may not be revolutionary—especially following Porsche’s launch of the budget-friendly Carrera T.

Alongside the new base model, the 2018 GT-R features Apple CarPlay, a new “Kuro Night” interior color option, and minimal other updates. This year’s model retains the same 3.8-liter V6 engine as its predecessor, generating 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, with no announcements of any modifications or upgrades under the hood.

For those considering a more luxurious GT-R experience, the Premium model is available for $110,490, while a sportier Track Edition can be purchased for $128,490. Additionally, collectors and enthusiasts who manage to secure a “very limited” NISMO GT-R can anticipate a powerful 600 hp for a price tag of $175,490.
