Henkel, the German chemical and consumer goods company, has inaugurated a new Battery Test Center at its headquarters in Düsseldorf.
This cutting-edge facility complements Henkel’s existing Battery Engineering Center, which launched earlier in 2023 alongside the Battery Application Center. These initiatives are aimed at bolstering Henkel’s role as a key development partner for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and battery producers in the e-mobility industry.
Certified under TISAX, the Battery Test Center features environmental simulation technology that controls temperature and humidity. This allows engineers to conduct tests focused on rapid charging and discharging, as well as assessing leakage and battery aging. The center is capable of creating a digital twin for any battery, utilizing advanced materials via digital material cards, performing scenario simulations, and validating outcomes in real-world systems, which includes conducting debonding trials in active battery packs to facilitate battery circularity.
This facility marks the inaugural site in Henkel’s planned network of Battery Engineering Centers, which will extend to the United States and China to foster collaborative efforts across regions.
George Kazantzis, Global Head of Henkel’s Automotive Components division, emphasized, “This enables our customers to accelerate their development cycles and bring the next generation of EV batteries to market faster and more efficiently.”
