- The revamped Kia Carnival now offers a hybrid variant that achieves 33 mpg combined
- Featuring a standard hybrid option, the Toyota Sienna boasts 36 mpg or 35 mpg with all-wheel drive
- The Chrysler Pacifica remains the only plug-in hybrid minivan, providing a 32-mile electric range
While the Chrysler Voyager is set to return as the entry-level model of the Pacifica, there is currently only one minivan manufacturer in the U.S. that does not offer a hybrid model: the slightly updated 2025 Honda Odyssey.
2024 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
Chrysler Pacifica
- Hybrid powertrain option: Plug-in hybrid featuring a 260-hp 3.6-liter V-6 and a two-motor hybrid system; 16-kwh battery pack, front-wheel drive
- Offers 32 miles of all-electric driving and 30 mpg combined in hybrid mode
- Starting price for the PHEV: $52,750
Since its introduction in the 2017 model year, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has remained the only plug-in hybrid minivan on the market. It performs uniquely well, enabling families to use it as an all-electric vehicle for short daily trips and as a highly efficient hybrid for longer journeys. Moreover, the Pacifica Hybrid still qualifies for the full $7,500 federal tax credit as per new regulations enacted in 2024.
Kia Carnival
- Hybrid powertrain option: 242-hp 1.6-liter turbo-4 paired with a 54-kw electric motor; features a 1.4-kwh battery pack and front-wheel drive
- 38 mpg city, 31 highway, 33 combined
- Hybrid starting price: $41,895
The 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid marks the first time Kia has introduced a hybrid powertrain in its minivan lineup. This model was launched alongside a mid-cycle facelift of the Carnival, which includes upgraded technology and a refreshed appearance. The hybrid powertrain shares similarities with the one found in the 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid crossover, which is also receiving a makeover this year. The larger and blocky Carnival Hybrid achieves 33 mpg combined, comparable to the Sorento Hybrid’s 36 mpg.
Toyota Sienna
- Standard hybrid powertrain: 245-hp 2.5-liter inline-4 equipped with a two-motor hybrid system; 6.5 Ah battery pack; front-wheel or all-wheel drive
- Achieves 36 mpg combined (front-wheel drive) or 35 mpg combined (all-wheel drive)
- Starting price: $39,080
This Sienna features a standard hybrid powertrain introduced with its updated design in the 2021 model year. While it is not a plug-in hybrid like the Pacifica Hybrid, it provides an all-wheel drive option, setting it apart from the newly launched Kia Carnival Hybrid, which is expected to match its 36 mpg EPA combined rating.
Honda Odyssey
- Gas powertrain: 280-hp 3.6-liter V-6, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive
- Achieves 22 mpg combined
- Starting price: $43,315
The 2025 Honda Odyssey undergoes minor updates in styling and technology features, yet its powertrain remains unchanged. As the only minivan without a hybrid option, the Odyssey was last redesigned in 2018. Honda aims for 50% hybrid sales and plans to adapt hybrid versions for all its core models; hence, an Odyssey hybrid may be part of future plans.
