The Honda S2000 debuted in 1999 to rave reviews, thanks to its remarkable performance. Equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four engine, known as the F20C, it could reach an impressive 9,200 RPM before hitting the limiter and generated up to 247 horsepower in models sold in Japan. Beyond its exceptional rev range and dynamic driving experience, this vehicle is noteworthy for having the highest horsepower per liter of any naturally aspirated engine globally until the Ferrari 458 surpassed it later. While the later iterations of the 458 boasted up to 133 horsepower per liter, their prices were significantly higher than that of the S2000.

The S2000 CR, or Club Racer, was a limited-edition variant produced in 2008 and 2009, just two years before the S2000 was discontinued. Honda initially aimed to limit production to 2,000 units, but only managed to sell 699 Club Racer models. The CR featured enhancements such as quicker steering, updated exhaust systems, cosmetic upgrades, wider wheels, aerodynamic modifications to reduce lift, chassis improvements, a redesigned roof, a modified suspension, and a short-throw shifter.

One of these S2000 CRs recently appeared for auction on Bring A Trailer. This specific vehicle is one of only 200 painted in the exclusive Apex Pearl Blue color. As it belongs to the AP2 generation rather than the AP1, it is equipped with the F22C1 engine, which provides a lower rev range but improved torque. According to the owner, this car has never participated in autocross events or raced on a track, and it has just surpassed 89,000 miles. Aside from minor wear over the past decade, it will soon require a new clutch and may also need an oil change.

Currently, the highest bid for this S2000 CR stands at $8,888. Bidders can place their offers here before the auction concludes on Tuesday, September 5.
