What might seem like an action-packed scene straight from The Fast and Furious is actually the result of an unusual accident. A fast-moving vehicle ended up on the second floor of a dental office after crashing into a street median. As reported by NBC Los Angeles, the incident took place around 5:25 a.m. at the crossroads of French and 17th Street in Santa Ana.

Authorities stated that a white sedan was racing north on French Street when it struck the raised median at 17th, launching it into the air. The vehicle managed to soar and land halfway through the second story of the building. While I’d award it ten points for the jump, I’d only give it a seven for the awkward landing, as the car ended up precariously positioned at a 45-degree angle, hanging out of a window.

Witnesses reported that the car ignited after crashing into the structure. The driver was able to exit the vehicle but found himself unable to reach the ground, clinging to the underside of the car until the police arrived to assist him down. Fortunately, both the driver and a passenger sustained only minor injuries, and no other individuals were harmed. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol, but he did confess to police that he had been using drugs. He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Firefighters remove car from the second floor, Santa Ana Police Department

By 10 a.m. PST, firefighters were still at the scene, working to extract the car from the second-story window. Public Works officials were also on-site to assess the building’s structural integrity following the collision. The LA County Fire Department arrived in Orange County with a large wrecker truck to aid local responders in removing the vehicle.

From the images, it appears that a Nissan Altima made the leap. I bet many were hoping it was a Mustang!
