Discovering Romania’s Stunning Transfăgărășan Road with Lamborghini
When it comes to the best driving road in the world, many Americans might first think of California’s Angeles Crest Highway or the East Coast’s Tail of the Dragon. However, while Spanish and French roads earn their acclaim, Lamborghini believes the ultimate driving experience can be found in Romania. To demonstrate this, the luxury car manufacturer has dispatched six of its top Huracan models to explore the breathtaking Transfăgărășan highway in Transylvania.
In a press release on Thursday, Lamborghini announced that they transported five Huracan Coupes, Spyders, and a Huracan Performante to Romania to experience the scenic 56-mile stretch of the Transfăgărășan. Renowned for its twisting turns and panoramic views, this road winds through the Transylvanian Alps and has been recognized as the best driving road in the world by the popular automotive show Top Gear. High above the road sits the infamous castle of Vlad III, or Vlad the Impaler, who inspired the Dracula legend. The Transfăgărășan is only accessible to travelers during the summer months, with claims that one can admire the entire route from the highest adjacent peak on a clear day.
The group of six Lamborghinis started their journey in the historic city of Sibiu, Romania, embarking on a nearly 100-mile drive to reach the winding road. Once there, the vehicles encountered around 60 miles of thrilling hairpin turns and stunning vistas, culminating at the Vidraru Dam, all while Count Dracula’s castle towered in the background. Despite the romantic allure of the journey, one might jest that Vlad’s preference for red implies he would have favored Ferrari instead.
