Just days after unveiling the 2019 Sierra Elevation, GMC has rolled out two new Graphite Editions for the 2019 GMC Yukon full-size SUV. As the name indicates, the standard Yukon Graphite Edition features a sleek, darkened exterior, while the Yukon Graphite Performance Edition adds various mechanical enhancements.
These Graphite Editions are exclusively available for the SLT trim in both the Yukon and Yukon XL versions, offered in two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.
The Yukon Graphite Edition is designed with numerous visual upgrades, including 22-inch bright machined wheels accented with Carbon Flash Metallic pockets, black assist steps with gloss black details, a premium black chrome grille mesh insert, and fog lamp surrounds. It also features a body-color grille surround, black roof rails, gloss black beltline moldings, and other black trim accents.
In addition to the standard features found in the Yukon Graphite Edition, the Graphite Performance Edition comes equipped with 22-inch six-spoke Gloss black wheels and several performance-oriented mechanical improvements. It’s powered by a robust 6.2-liter V8 engine that incorporates direct injection, Active Fuel Management, and continuously variable valve timing, producing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-foot of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that enhances efficiency by lowering engine RPM on the highway.
These powertrain upgrades are further enhanced by Magnetic Ride Control, which utilizes sensors to assess road conditions and can almost instantaneously adjust the damping rate of the shocks. Additionally, it includes a high-capacity air cleaner, an active two-speed transfer case (exclusive to 4WD models), a trailer brake controller, a robust 170-amp alternator, and a 3.23 axle ratio. Inside, the Yukon boasts two eight-inch color displays—one for the instrument cluster and another as a touchscreen for infotainment functions. The package also features a color Head-up Display and Bose speakers with Active Noise Cancellation.
Stu Pierce, senior marketing manager for GMC trucks and full-size SUVs, stated, “The Yukon continues to lead the full-size SUV market with premium features and a well-established identity.” He further noted, “The all-new Graphite Edition builds on the impressive road presence and capabilities of the Yukon, allowing customers to express a unique, yet distinctly GMC style.”
The 2019 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL Graphite Editions are set to hit U.S. showrooms this summer, available in three exterior colors: Onyx Black, White Frost Tricoat, and Dark Sky Metallic. Pricing information will be revealed closer to the release date. For those eager for a new ride, the Midnight Editions of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are available as a similar alternative..
