Aston Martin is making headlines in the automotive industry with a series of exciting announcements, the latest being a new monster truck initiative named ‘Project Sparta.’

This year marks a significant milestone for the luxury British sports car manufacturer headquartered in Gaydon, Warwickshire, as it has revealed its participation in Formula 1 racing and the FIA World Endurance Championship. However, its foray into the realm of monster trucks is particularly noteworthy.

Project Sparta, developed in tandem with the eagerly awaited DBX SUV, aims to make a striking debut in the Monster Jam series starting in 2019, competing against some of the biggest names in the sport, including Grave Digger, Big Kahuna, Ice Cream Man, and Jailbird.

Designed under the supervision of David King, Vice President of Special Operations and President of Aston Martin Racing, Project Sparta will be equipped with a powerful 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine, similar to that used in the Valkyrie AMR Pro, producing more than 1,100 bhp. This engine was previously showcased at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show. While Project Sparta is expected to be significantly heavier than the AMR Pro and will not come close to its top speed of 225 mph, it will offer impressive ground clearance.

As an example of the brand’s “Q by Aston Martin Commission,” Project Sparta will be a one-of-a-kind creation for a special client. Notably, three-time Le Mans champion and Aston Martin Racing Works driver Darren Turner will drive this unique monster truck during all Monster Jam events in 2019, at the request of a yet-to-be-identified customer. Is this an outrageous endeavor? Indeed, this could be viewed as an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank. Well played, Aston Martin.
