Kia is set to unveil a new concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September. This vehicle marks a significant shift for the brand, moving away from its past image of producing budget-friendly compacts. The latest design is a stylish five-door shooting brake that exudes a premium vibe, reminiscent of the Porsche Panamera wagon.

Kia refers to this model as an “extended hatch,” suggesting that it shouldn’t be labeled as a wagon. The car features a well-defined body, large wheels, a gently sloping rear quarter, and an elongated horizontal tail light. While the front design is not fully visible, it seems likely that it will resemble the styling of the Kia Stinger.

Autocar speculates that this teaser could indicate a new variant of the Cee’d. The Kia Cee’d is a compact model exclusive to Europe, similar to the Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra, with the key distinction that all Cee’d models feature a hatchback design. It is available in three-door hatch, five-door hatch, and extended five-door wagon versions.

However, if any version of this concept proceeds to production, it is unlikely to be available in the U.S. market. Given the current trend towards crossovers, it is already a gamble for Kia to sell the Stinger in the States, and introducing a shooting brake could prove to be a financial misstep. Nonetheless, should a Kia Stinger GT wagon make its way to American dealerships, we certainly wouldn’t mind.
