Tokyo’s C1 Loop, also known as the Wangan, stands out as one of Japan’s longest and straightest roads, famous for being a hotbed of street racing. In the United States, a similar locale exists in Texas.

In Texas, roll racing is a serious business, and this brings us to an incredible video featuring a 1,000-horsepower Acura NSX pitted against GT-Rs and a Hayabusa.

The legendary Japanese mid-engine sports car is celebrated for its excellent handling and everyday usability. However, many enthusiasts claimed that the original NSX fell short on power; the NA1 version delivered 270 horsepower, while the NA2 only saw a slight increase to 290 horsepower before production ended in 2005. In a classic case of overshooting, a Texas tuner created a 1,000-horsepower NSX, likely sacrificing some of the vehicle’s balance linked to Ayrton Senna.

Gone is the original C30A V6 engine. This NSX now houses a K20A engine paired with a massive Precision Turbo 6870. While switching from a refined DOHC V6 to a compact four-cylinder seems illogical, the engine bay clearly indicates that the turbo setup is too substantial to fit with the factory engine. Apparently, modifications were required, and if it may sound odd but performs well, then it deserves recognition.

Regardless of one’s opinion on the engine configuration in this 1,000-horsepower NSX, the performance numbers are impressive, and the shared videos highlight an exhilarating experience. These Texas speed enthusiasts have gained prominence over the years, showcasing their power-hungry creations that conquer the state’s interminable highways. (Speaking of Texas, we extend our thoughts to the residents of Houston impacted by Hurricane Harvey, wishing the city and its people a swift recovery.)

Don’t miss the clips of the street racing NSX featured by YouTuber Speed FX below.
