Bizarre 2019 GMC Sierra Commercial Features Competing Truck Owners Removing Their Own Tailgates

Forget for a moment that the Chevrolet Silverado lacks the innovative six-way MultiPro tailgate. Now, focus on the fact that this feature is available on the new GMC Sierra, and take a look at an unusual advertisement featuring a group of people parading while carrying their non-GM tailgates and singing “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.”

In this quirky ad, the implication seems to be that if your truck doesn’t come equipped with the MultiPro tailgate, you might as well toss off your standard tailgate, which is attached by a single hinge. The scene shows a rugged individual standing proudly in the bed of his 2019 GMC Sierra Denali, hands on his hips, offering a approving nod. The ad suggests you should surrender your inferior tailgate and consider purchasing a new Sierra Denali for around $60,000 to replace your “useless” truck.

Interestingly, none of the individuals in this ad are depicted carrying a Chevrolet tailgate, even though the new Silverado doesn’t come with the MultiPro option. It’s worth noting that it’s also possible to purchase a new GMC Sierra with a standard tailgate that simply folds down without any fancy features.

Clearly, GMC is aiming to highlight the absence of a tailgate as advanced and multifunctional as the unique MultiPro tailgate on offerings from Ford, Ram, and Toyota. While the MultiPro is indeed a clever and potentially practical design, the ad’s approach is rather strange. A demonstration showing how the MultiPro tailgate can be effectively utilized in real-world scenarios would be much more engaging than watching a nonsensical march of truck owners with their tailgates.

So, does this advertisement make you more inclined to buy a new Sierra, or does it simply inspire you to remove the tailgate from your truck and sing about it?.
