McLaren Automotive has introduced the new 720S GT3, which will begin testing in 2018 and be available for customer racing teams by 2019.

With a lineup of luxury sports cars that have excelled on both roads and race tracks, McLaren aims to refocus on motorsport. “McLaren is built on racing and providing our growing family of customers with unique and exhilarating driving experiences,” stated Mike Flewitt, CEO of McLaren.

The 720S GT3 joins the previously unveiled 570S GT4 in an effort to broaden McLaren’s range of race cars tailored for customer racing series. This new model will primarily participate in one-make GT competitions, following in the footsteps of the 650S GT3, which has competed successfully in events like the Pirelli World Challenge, Blancpain Endurance, and Asian Le Mans Series.

The 720S GT3, designed for GT3 specifications, incorporates the sturdy Monocage II carbon fiber tub from the Super Series road car, complemented by a distinctive aerodynamic package and extensive use of carbon fiber composite materials. In addition, McLaren has enhanced the performance of the twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which is now paired with a 6-speed sequential racing transmission.

To assist customers in maximizing the potential of the 720S GT3, McLaren is launching the McLaren Automotive Driver Development Program. This initiative includes track events tailored for owners to refine their racing skills, and the top performers will have the opportunity to compete in the new Pure McLaren-GT Series.

Ten dealerships across the globe will offer the 720S GT3, starting with McLaren Glasgow. North American customers can purchase and service their vehicles at selected dealers in Newport Beach, California; Dallas, Texas; Scottsdale, Arizona; Toronto, Ontario; San Francisco, California; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania..
