Considering the State Fair of Texas as an automotive showcase, given its numerous pickup and SUV unveilings, it ranks as one of the largest auto events in the nation by attendance. As a result, automotive companies like Ram capitalize on this occasion to present their latest models and cater to the Texan market, which has a strong preference for larger vehicles. This year continues that trend.

In 2020, Ram is launching a new trim package for its half-ton and heavy-duty trucks, featuring a sleek and subdued aesthetic. The Black Edition for the 1500 and the Night Edition for the Heavy Duty eliminate much of the shiny chrome, opting for darker design elements instead.

“As we enhance capability, technology, and efficiency, Ram continuously seeks to provide added comfort and luxury for our customers. The new Limited Black Edition exemplifies our commitment to offering the most opulent pickups in the market,” stated Reid Bigland, head of Ram.

The Ram 1500 Black Edition, derived from the top-tier Limited trim, features 22-inch wheels, a sporty hood, and various black exterior details. Meanwhile, the Heavy Duty Night Edition is available on the Big Horn or Laramie models, showcasing darkened elements and the introduction of a 17-inch wheel for their dual rear wheel trucks—all in black, of course.

The 1500 Black Edition has been priced at an MSRP of $53,690, while the Heavy Duty Night Edition starts at $37,995 for the Big Horn variant. Both trims are exclusively offered on crew cab and Mega Cab configurations, with the latter available in two- or four-wheel drive options across the 2500 or 3500 models. Buyers can select between a gasoline engine or the Cummins diesel, providing up to 1,000 pound-feet of torque.

The half-ton pickup is set for release in the third quarter of this year, with the Heavy Duty trucks expected to follow in the fourth quarter.
