Last month, the Koenigsegg Jesko achieved a new lap record at Laguna Seca racetrack in California, completing the circuit in 1 minute and 24.86 seconds. This impressive time surpassed the previous record held by the Czinger 21C.

Just a few weeks have gone by since the Jesko set that record, and the US-based hypercar manufacturer has already regained its title. Recently, the Czinger 21C returned to Laguna Seca with the specific goal of outpacing the Jesko, and it managed to do just that.

The Czinger 21C indeed set a new fastest lap time for production cars, albeit by a narrow margin. It completed the 2.2-mile circuit in 1 minute and 24.75 seconds, finishing just 0.11 seconds ahead of the Jesko. Furthermore, it improved its previous best time by 0.69 seconds.

In contrast to the Jesko, the Czinger 21C is a hybrid vehicle. It features a mid-mounted, 2.88-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an 800 V electric drive. The electric motor powers the front wheels, while the petrol engine operates the rear axle, resulting in a combined output of a robust 1350 horsepower.

Earlier this year, Kevin Czinger, the founder of Czinger Vehicles, had announced intentions to challenge the speed records established by Bugatti and Koenigsegg.
