Subaru has introduced a new special edition of its WRX STI, known as the S208. This limited edition is set to feature several additional aerodynamic enhancements, a sportier interior, and promises “enhanced engine performance.”
While Subaru has not disclosed the exact horsepower for the S208, the earlier S207 STI produced 323 horsepower—18 more than the standard STI. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect that the S208 will either match or surpass this figure. Additional performance upgrades include a carbon fiber roof, which helps reduce both the vehicle’s center of gravity and overall weight, along with a revised suspension system for improved handling.
However, there’s a limitation: similar to the S207, the Subaru WRX STI S208 will only be sold in Japan. Even for devoted WRX enthusiasts living in Japan, acquiring one may prove challenging due to its limited availability. Just 450 units will be manufactured, and prospective buyers will need to enter a lottery for a chance to purchase one. Those interested can register at any Subaru dealership in Japan and hope for luck.
The Subaru WRX STI S208 will make its debut at next month’s Tokyo Motor Show.
