If you haven’t visited YouTube since the debut of the Lamborghini Aventador in 2011, you might be surprised to learn that the vehicle is known for producing impressive flames. Thanks to its short exhaust path connected to the rear-mounted engine, there’s ample opportunity for unburnt fuel to escape and ignite on the hot tailpipe. Over the years, car enthusiasts have had fun modifying this feature, traditionally focusing on the Aventador itself. However, a new video circulating online demonstrates the unexpected consequences of not keeping a safe distance from an Aventador’s fiery exhaust.

The video captures the perspective of a driver in a Ferrari 458 Italia (possibly a Spyder) navigating an undisclosed European city behind an Aventador. As both supercars rev their engines around a corner and down a narrow residential street, what appears to be a friendly competition quickly turns humorous. As the two vehicles approach a yield sign at a traffic circle, the Ferrari gets a bit too close. The Aventador releases fuel (likely due to the intense revving), resulting in flames erupting onto the Ferrari’s hood, prompting the driver to frantically shout “Stop!” multiple times.

While it’s easy to mock the Ferrari driver for his predicament, it’s hard not to sympathize; witnessing your $260,000 car nearly catch fire is undoubtedly a dreadful experience. Nonetheless, the situation provides plenty of amusement..
