Concerns arose among enthusiasts of the Sant’Agata automaker regarding the future of sports cars without a V10 engine and the shift towards electric power. However, those worries faded when they laid eyes on the new Lamborghini Temerario, which evokes sheer excitement. Measuring 4.71 meters in length, the Temerario stands as a remarkable achievement in design cohesiveness, a rarity among Lamborghini sports cars. Eschewing extreme styling, this Lamborghini embodies true elegance. Its powertrain, a blend of a four-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and three electric motors, positions it firmly within the realm of super performance, even rivaling the formidable Revuelto.

Internally labeled as the L411, the engine generates an impressive 588 kW / 800 PS through turbocharging and provides a peak torque of 700 Nm, available between 4,000 and 7,000 rpm. The first electric motor, placed between the combustion engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, ensures rapid response and mitigates any potential turbo lag. Additionally, two axial-flow electric motors, each weighing 15.5 kg and capable of producing up to 110 kW / 150 PS, power the front wheels when needed. Their continuous power of 60 kW enables the overall output of this Italian plug-in hybrid to soar to 676 kW / 920 PS.

The electric motors draw energy from a compact battery pack, measuring just 15 x 3 cm and boasting a capacity of 3.8 kWh, which can be recharged via a plug, albeit at a maximum of seven kilowatts. This discreet battery unit is cleverly concealed within the central tunnel. During operation, the battery can be recharged through regenerative braking on the front wheels or directly via the V8 engine, requiring only six minutes for a complete recharge. “Our aim was to create an unmatched high-performance sports engine that harmonizes the thrilling aspects of a traditional combustion engine with performance-driven electrification,” explains Dr. Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer at Lamborghini. “By integrating three axial-flow electric motors with a high-revving V8 twin-turbo, we’ve achieved remarkable responsiveness, impressive torque delivery, and distinctive performance attributes, including energy recovery.”

This configuration guarantees not just swift engine response and an exhilarating sound but also phenomenal performance. The Temerario can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds and achieve a top speed exceeding 340 km/h. It offers several driving modes: Citta, Strada, Sport, and Corsa – and can even operate emissions-free and nearly silently if desired. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, asserts, “Every new Lamborghini must exceed its predecessors in performance while also achieving greater sustainability in emissions. With the Temerario, we’ve marked a significant milestone in our electrification strategy: we are the first luxury car brand to present a fully hybrid range.”

Designed to offer exhilarating racing excitement, the new sports car targets customers who might consider alternatives like the Porsche 911 Turbo. The Temerario comes with optional ventilated leather seats and three displays, one of which caters to passenger information. Enhanced leg, head, and shoulder room aim to improve comfort both on track and on the highway. For enthusiasts interested in track days, the Lamborghini Temerario can also be equipped with bucket seats, sport tires, and a lightweight package that reduces the overall weight by a modest 25 kilograms from its approximately 1.8-ton curb weight.
