The Chrysler Pacifica minivan, equipped with a 287-horsepower V6 engine, front-wheel drive, and a weight exceeding two tons, may not immediately come to mind when considering sports cars. However, Fiat-Chrysler has taken a step to enhance its aesthetic with the introduction of the S Appearance Package for the 2018 model year, aimed at giving the van a more “sporty” look.
This aesthetic package, priced at $595, does not enhance the Pacifica’s performance, suggesting that FCA is not attempting to market the family-friendly minivan as a high-performance vehicle—at least not yet. The S Appearance Package features Gloss Black accents on various exterior elements, including the rear valance, grille housing, optional roof rack, and the top of the headlights, along with distinctive Black Noise badging. Standard on the Pacifica S are 18-inch Black Noise wheels, with an optional upgrade to 20-inch rims available for an additional $995.
Chrysler has also updated the interior, introducing black seating, a center console, headliner, A-pillars, and visors. Light Diesel Gray accents adorn the steering wheel, seats, and door trim, while large “S” badges are prominently displayed throughout the cabin.
This S Appearance Package is offered for the Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and Limited trims. Chrysler plans to start accepting orders for this package later this week, with S-equipped Pacificas expected to arrive at dealerships by this fall.
Despite some skepticism about the necessity of this package, it is noteworthy that the Pacifica has gained popularity among driving enthusiasts for reasons not fully understood..
