McLaren has shared additional insights regarding its 2019 Senna hypercar ahead of its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Before delving into the new information, let’s summarize what we know so far about the Senna. It is the latest model in McLaren’s Ultimate Series, representing the pinnacle of the brand’s performance capabilities. The Senna is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 789 horsepower. It features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis derived from the acclaimed 720S production car, which contributes to its lightweight structure of just 2,641 pounds. The anticipated price for the Senna is around $1 million, but it is worth noting that not everyone will have the opportunity to purchase one, as availability is limited to those specifically contacted by the company.

Now, onto the new highlights: McLaren plans to craft only 500 units of the Senna at its Woking facility in England, with each vehicle requiring approximately 300 hours of meticulous hand assembly.

The Senna’s powerful V8 engine directs its output to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing drivers the option to engage manual mode using carbon fiber shift paddles with a simple button press.

With remarkable acceleration, the Senna can go from zero to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 211 mph. It is also capable of completing a quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds, which is comparable to the stock 720S. However, the Senna’s design is not focused solely on straight-line speed; it is engineered for exceptional cornering performance.

An adjustable carbon fiber rear wing enables the Senna to generate an impressive 1,764 pounds of downforce during track use. It incorporates several active aerodynamic elements reminiscent of the Lamborghini Huracan Performante on its front and sides, optimizing airflow for better handling. Owners can select from four driving modes, which modify the ride height, center of gravity, and suspension stiffness for tailored performance.

Buyers have a wide selection of colors to customize their Sennas, with 18 standard exterior shades and 16 exclusive tones offered by McLaren Special Operations. Notable color options include Vision Victory Grey, Trophy Mira Orange, Stealth Cosmos Black, Vision Pure White, and Trophy Kyanos Blue.

Additionally, purchasers can choose the colors for the steering wheel and interior upholstery, with carbon fiber and Alcantara being prominent features throughout the car’s cabin. McLaren assures that the exhaust note of the Senna will satisfy audiophiles, and the vehicle is also equipped with a lightweight Bowers & Wilkins audio system.

The Senna will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show starting March 6. For those unable to attend, this information should serve as great conversation starters for the next automotive trivia evening..
