Kia Motors has announced the pricing details for its newly refreshed Sorento SUV on Thursday. This latest model has undergone significant upgrades for 2019, featuring fresh styling improvements and enhanced standard premium technology, all while maintaining an affordable starting price.
The 2019 Sorento has transitioned from a mid-size to a full-size SUV, featuring a standard three-row, seven-seat layout across all trim levels. Accompanying this additional passenger capacity are subtle design changes, including new front and rear fascias, updated headlights, bumpers, and exhaust tips.
Every new Sorento comes with front-wheel drive as standard, though all trims, barring the base model, can include Kia’s Magna Dynamax intelligent all-wheel drive system, which has recently showcased its off-road capabilities in Moab, Utah.
The entry-level Kia Sorento L starts at $25,990 and continues to feature a 2.4-liter inline-4 GDI engine. For just $90 more than the previous year’s base model, the 2019 Sorento L now includes an upgraded six-speed automatic transmission and a larger seven-inch infotainment display.
For the Sorento LX and higher trims, customers can opt for the all-wheel-drive system alongside a 3.3-liter V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel drive option for the LX begins at $29,290, bringing the total to $33,090 with both features added.
The $35,590 EX trim introduces exciting features such as Lane Keeping Assist, projector fog lights, and Driver Attention Warning, which helps monitor driver alertness. Upgrades are available, including enhanced navigation, Parking Distance Warning, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system.
Many of the EX’s optional features are standard on the $39,990 Sorento SX, which includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and a surround-sound audio system. The SX also offers features like wireless phone charging and two-way lumbar support for front seats, with the option to add Low Beam/High Beam Assist and LED headlights.
At the top of the lineup, the SXL trim is priced at $44,690 for front-wheel drive and $46,490 for all-wheel drive. This variant offers all the previously optional features found in the SX as standard.
While it may be difficult to determine if Kia’s new full-size SUV justifies a price near $50,000, it is clear that the brand’s commitment to attracting the luxury market with enhanced standard premium features is a positive step forward.
