With such pristine examples becoming increasingly rare—often altered or located overseas—it’s astonishing to see not just one buyer willing to pay this much, but also to witness the intense bidding war involving four other participants as the auction climbed past $100,000. Additionally, let’s not forget that this same ’97 Toyota was listed in 2023 and reached $165,000, only for the highest bidder to back out.
Under the hood, the FZJ80 Land Cruiser is powered by a 4.5-liter 1FZ-FE gas inline-six that delivers 212 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. This power routes through a four-speed automatic transmission, dual-range transfer case, and a center locking differential.
