These closely related automotive marvels were once champions on the road, with the Syclone famously outperforming a new Ferrari 348ts in various tests during a 1991 Car and Driver test. This compact powerhouse could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds—making it the fastest vehicle of its time—while the Typhoon followed closely with impressive performance the next year. Over the decades, these vehicles have achieved cult status thanks to their all-wheel drive, turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 engines, and distinctive designs that have made them highly desirable collector’s items.
Both vehicles are in exceptional condition and belong to a dedicated enthusiast who has owned three Syclones in total. The 1991 GMC Syclone has a mere 31,750 miles on the odometer and has been meticulously maintained. According to the seller, who spoke with The Drive, the truck has never been exposed to rain and boasts an extensive maintenance record, along with light modifications like a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust.
This Syclone is build number 839 of only 2,995 ever produced, with an original MSRP of $25,500 as indicated on the window sticker.
The Typhoon, which is even less common, is a 1992 model that has only 26,700 miles on its odometer. It is one of just 523 units ever produced in Apple Red, and mechanically, it is almost identical to the Syclone. The powertrain is reportedly in excellent condition, as is the rest of this unique high-performance SUV.
This vehicle holds the distinction of being number 324 out of 4,697 produced between 1992 and 1993, and it originally had an MSRP of $29,320.
Currently, these two vehicles are being offered as a pair, with the hope that they will remain together for years to come. The combined asking price is $68,500. Given their low mileage and excellent condition, this price is competitive compared to other well-maintained examples currently on the market. If desired, the seller is open to selling the Syclone separately for $32,500 or best offer, while the Typhoon is priced at $34,500 or best offer.
Ultimately, the true value of a car is determined by what someone is willing to pay, but it seems likely that a discerning collector might be interested in adding this impressive duo to their collection. For what it’s worth, even Jay Leno owns a Syclone.
