The Kia EV6, which debuted two years ago, continues to be a strong contender in the electric vehicle market. Unlike some manufacturers that may wait long periods for improvements, Kia is proactively enhancing the EV6 with a facelift that boosts performance across the board, including range and safety, while updating its design to align with these advancements.
Set for release in the 2025 model year, the refreshed EV6 will continue using the E-GMP platform, but it will feature a sturdier B-pillar for increased chassis stiffness and improved crash safety. The vehicle’s frequency-sensitive damping has been recalibrated to enhance ride comfort, and additional sound insulation will further reduce cabin noise. The battery capacity is increasing from 77.4 kilowatt-hours to 84, which Kia claims will enhance the range by as much as four percent for long-range rear-wheel-drive versions. While a specific range estimate for the U.S. hasn’t been provided, this could mean an additional 12 miles of range.
The revamped EV6 will also showcase redesigned headlights, new color options, and updated bumpers for the GT-Line variant. These modifications might hint at further stylistic upgrades for the upcoming EV6 GT performance model, though Kia has not confirmed any updates for it at this time. If an upgrade does occur, it could boost the power from 576 horsepower to align with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, which is preparing for the Pikes Peak race and offers 641 horsepower.
On the technology front, features like wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto will now be standard, alongside enhancements to remote parking assist and improved steering wheel grip detection. These changes are likely associated with the SUV’s upgraded driving assistance technologies, as well as its new streaming capabilities. The EV6 models will provide additional connectivity options and expanded over-the-air update functionalities to improve various vehicle features.
Pricing and availability details for the U.S. market have yet to be released, but the base model is expected to start around $40,500 in South Korea. Given that the 2024 model has a price increase of about $2,000 in the U.S., a similar rise in price is likely when the 2025 Kia EV6 becomes available stateside.
