The Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric is making a statement to Tesla drivers through a clever digital billboard campaign that emphasizes how the new all-electric Renault surpasses the Tesla Model Y in both range and affordability.
This initiative was inspired by an Auto Express article titled “New Renault Scenic embarrasses Tesla Model Y on price and range.” The digital billboard, situated near charging stations at a service area in London, adjusts its messaging when a Tesla is detected, replacing its standard advertisement with cheeky phrases like “This is awkward,” “Elon-ger,” and “You’re probably good at other things.” The interactive nature of the billboard, which changes in response to nearby Tesla vehicles, will be showcased on platforms like TikTok and Meta.
These playful messages will likely give Tesla owners pause for thought. The techno Long Range variant of the Scenic E-Tech 100% electric boasts a range of up to 379 miles (WLTP), exceeding the coverage of any Tesla Model Y by over 40 miles and outpacing Tesla’s entry-level rear-wheel-drive model by almost 100 miles. Starting at £40,995 OTR, this Renault version also undercuts the base price of the Model Y by nearly £5,000.
Developed in collaboration with Publicis London, Renault UK’s long-standing creative partner, this campaign serves as a testament to the Scenic E-Tech 100% electric’s significant impact since its introduction late last year. The vehicle has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious title of Car of the Year 2024.
Lawrence Hamilton, Head of Marketing Communications, Digital & CRM at Renault UK, commented: “The Scenic is a genuine game-changer, as highlighted by the Auto Express article, which acknowledges its superiority over long-standing benchmarks in two vital areas. This campaign effectively disseminates this message, showcasing the same innovative and forward-thinking spirit embodied by the Scenic E-Tech 100% electric.”
Tailored to meet the needs of families, the Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric offers ample space, comfort, and connectivity. It features a compact motor with options of 125kW/170hp or 160kW/220hp, complemented by either a 60kW or 87kWh battery, supporting a maximum range of 379 miles. The 87kWh model is available in three trim levels—techno, esprit Alpine, and iconic—while the 60kWh Comfort Range variant comes solely in techno trim. Prices start at £37,495 OTR.
