Every year, Cars.com publishes a list highlighting the most American-made vehicles. Interestingly, this list typically features very few domestic pickup trucks, even though they are among the top sellers that embody the American spirit. The 2024 edition is no exception, with the Jeep Gladiator being the only truck from a domestic manufacturer to make the top ten.

This year’s list continues the trend we’ve seen over the years, primarily featuring Tesla and Honda vehicles, with three models from each brand. Interestingly, the Honda Ridgeline, often criticized by traditional pickup enthusiasts, ranks higher than any other truck in terms of American-made content.
The Jeep Gladiator is manufactured alongside the Wrangler at the company’s facility in Toledo, Ohio. It rose 19 positions to secure its eighth-place ranking thanks to its strong contributions to the U.S. economy, including aspects like manufacturing, parts sourcing, and employment. Only one other domestic truck, the Ram 1500 Classic, made it into the top 20, securing the 19th spot. Meanwhile, the Ford F-150, the best-selling truck in America for over 40 years, has fallen to 58th place, and the Chevrolet Silverado is even further behind at 89th.
Many manufacturers often claim that their vehicles are “assembled in the United States,” a statement true for all the trucks mentioned. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that all of their parts are manufactured domestically. A previous article I wrote highlighted the lack of full-size pickups on the American-made index, underscoring the importance of this distinction. Companies like General Motors, Ford, and Ram have emphasized their investments in U.S. assembly facilities, yet this does not alter their position on the list.
While it’s clear that carmakers invest heavily in U.S. production facilities, a single statistic does not provide a complete picture.
