It seems that Chevrolet has indeed followed through on the launch of an Equinox EV variant that is priced at just $34,995 and is expected to offer more than 300 miles of range. However, this model will be introduced in the 2025 model year, rather than 2024.
Announced on Thursday by the GM brand, the base 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV LT will be hitting the market “shortly.” It comes equipped with 19-inch machined wheels and is packed with advanced technology, including a large 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with an 11-inch information display, a comprehensive set of active safety features, as well as remote and hands-free start functions. However, it opts for cloth seats that are manually adjustable, omitting heated seats and steering-wheel warmers that can be beneficial during winter for EV owners.
The starting price of the Equinox EV at $34,995, as initially confirmed by Chevy for 2024, encompasses the $1,395 destination charge and it is anticipated to retain the same 319-mile EPA range rating as the current 2024 Equinox models with front-wheel drive, thanks to an 85-kwh battery pack. In 2024, it will be eligible for the $7,500 EV tax credit, resulting in an effective price of only $27,495.
The 2025 models of this upgraded EV will offer slightly higher power and torque compared to their 2024 counterparts, according to Chevy—220 hp and 243 lb-ft in the front-wheel-drive single-motor variant, or 300 hp and 355 lb-ft in the all-wheel-drive dual-motor configuration. These figures reflect an increase of 7 hp and 7 lb-ft with FWD and 12 hp and 22 lb-ft with AWD.
Chevy has yet to confirm the additional cost of all-wheel drive on the LT model, but in 2024 the premium was $3,300.
The version launched by Chevy as the 2LT has been reimagined as an optional package for 2025, costing up to $43,295. A “Comfort and Active Safety 2 Package” falls in the middle at $36,995, while the top-tier model previously known as the 3LT now carries a price tag of $46,395.
When fully equipped, the 2LT model includes roof rails, a rear wiper, a power liftgate, a power driver seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control. The 3LT adds features like front-seat cooling, power-adjustable front passenger seat, heated wiper parking, heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Chevy highlights that the top-tier LT and RS trims now come with a head-up display and a rear camera mirror.
At the pinnacle of the 2025 Equinox EV lineup is the RS. The former 2RS (equipped with 21-inch wheels, black roof, and flat-bottom steering wheel) is now labeled as the RS, priced at $44,795. Additionally, the previous 3RS (featuring dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable passenger seat, heated rear seats, and more) is an optional package on top of that, priced at $47,890.
In a test drive of the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV in May, Green Car Reports described this new GM EV as the new “standard” for American EVs, with a package that offers a satisfying driving experience and usability.
The pricing adjustment for the Equinox EV aligns with Chevy’s recent update for the slightly more upscale Blazer EV. The 2025 Blazer EV also sees a reduction in the base price for the existing LT and RS variants.
With the introduction of the $34,995 base model, the Equinox EV currently stands as one of the most competitively priced EVs in the U.S. market. GM CEO Mary Barra has already confirmed that this won’t be Chevy’s most affordably priced EV— that title will go to the forthcoming 2026 Chevy Bolt EV.
