Reports suggest that the US-based cloud dealership software provider, CDK Global, has been targeted in an ongoing cyber assault, leading to the suspension of its Dealer Management System for the second time within two days.

CDK’s platform assists around 15,000 dealerships in North America in overseeing car purchases, sales, financing, insurance, vehicle repairs, and upkeep.

In light of the offensive on June 19, CDK announced that it has deactivated most of its systems as a precautionary measure to safeguard its clients.

Despite the reactivation of its primary document management system and digital retail solutions by Wednesday evening, comprehensive testing is being carried out on all other software.

The attack has caused disruptions in the operations of car dealerships across the US, compelling many to resort to manual processes.

CDK Global affirms that it maintains a three-pronged cybersecurity approach to forestall, shield, and counter cyber assaults on its platform.

In a communication to the dealership network, CDK noted that the ongoing disruption might persist for a few days and emphasized its dedication to reestablishing full functionality promptly and aiding dealers in resuming normal operations without delay.

Car dealerships are prime targets for cyber intrusions due to the confidential nature of the customer data they handle, which includes credit applications and financial details.
