The first Kalmar Automotive 7-97 destined for the US has been unveiled. Canepa, an esteemed retailer of classic and sports cars established by former racing professional Bruce Canepa, commissioned the remarkable remodel. From the 993-era 911, the 7-97 ‘C1’ (with ‘C’ representing Canepa) is equipped with a 4.0-liter engine producing 396 horsepower and 314 lb-ft of torque.

The specialists at Porsche have enhanced the engine with individual throttle bodies operated by drive-by-wire, a fresh exhaust system, two oil coolers, and a crankshaft derived from a 997 GT3 model. Additionally, there are personalized air filtration and dual oil cooling systems. Although no performance metrics are disclosed, the 7-97 C1 is expected to offer outstanding performance. This specific vehicle boasts all-wheel drive and weighs around 2,675 lbs. The rear-wheel drive variants are even lighter, tipping the scales at a mere 2,500 lbs. Kalmar also includes a lightweight lithium battery.

In terms of design, Kalmar has excelled with the sleek appearance of the 7-97 C1. There is no resemblance to the 993 model, as the updated aesthetics, shaped with fresh carbon fiber body panels, pay homage to the classic Porsche 911 ST from the 1970s. Although the C1 is based on the 993, Kalmar mentions that it utilizes 964 donor cars for the 7-97 range. The modifications are impeccably completed with lightweight three-piece wheels.

Elegant Interior Hides Contemporary Luxuries

The inside exudes opulence. High-end Recaro sports seats dominate the interior. In the instance of C1, they have been upholstered in a sophisticated and distinct shade of green, which complements the dashboard, central console, door panels, and back seats. The wood-trimmed gear shifter provides a touch of contrast, along with the floor rugs. Clients can even select airbags. Standard lavish amenities include air conditioning, power-assisted steering, rain-sensing windshield wipers, remote locking, and a Bluetooth-enabled audio system. Similar to the finest restomods, C1 seamlessly blends vintage aesthetics with modern comfort features.
