The latest addition to Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class fleet will showcase the lengthiest dry chute at sea. Initially introduced on the Harmony of the Seas in 2016, the towering Ultimate Abyss, spanning 10 decks, swiftly captivated guests. Passengers journey to the aft of the vessel on Deck 16, navigating through twists and turns before reaching the Boardwalk on Deck 6.

MSC Cruises’ World Europa secured the record for the lengthiest dry chute at sea with the 250-foot Venom Drop. In response, Royal Caribbean decided to introduce an even more exhilarating feature on their newest ship.

Measuring 259 feet, the Ultimate Abyss on Utopia of the Seas will surpass its predecessors by 43 feet. Furthermore, it will be approximately ten times longer than a double-decker bus in London.

These two slides, constructed in Germany, consist of 41 segments. Instead of installing a complete chute on the ship, sections were pieced together and added individually.

Internally, riders will encounter 300 vibrant LED lights and a novel addition – the zoom booster rollers, which provide a surprising finish to the ride.

Utopia of the Seas’ Ultimate Abyss offers transparent racing windows, heightening the thrill as passengers zip down the chute in a mere nineteen seconds.

Manufactured in France, the iconic anglerfish stands 22 feet tall with 36 teeth, welcoming riders as they plunge into the “abyss.”

The Ultimate Abyss dry chute can be accessed on every Oasis Class ship, with one exception

This complimentary thrill ride can only be experienced on an Oasis Class vessel. Originally introduced on the Harmony of the Seas, it was subsequently added to the flagship ship of the class. However, Allure of the Seas missed out on this thrilling feature due to the cancellation of its Royal Amplification.

Presently, Allure sets sail from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida on 3- and 4-night trips to The Bahamas, including Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay. In July, the vessel will relocate to Miami, its homeport until February 2025.

During Royal Caribbean Group’s Q4 earnings call, Jason Liberty, President, and CEO, announced that the second Oasis Class ship is due for a significant renovation. Upon its return to service in April 2025, the vessel will be stationed in Europe, offering weeklong cruises in the Mediterranean.

Although details are scarce, speculations suggest that an Ultimate Abyss may finally find its way onto the ship.

Besides the enhancements to the Ultimate Abyss, Utopia of the Seas offers exclusive features

Utopia Station – Royal Railway, a brand-new specialty dining venue exclusive to Utopia of the Seas, promises an immersive dining experience that blends the Old West and Far East themes while cruising!

In addition to a captivating show complete with seat vibrations and special effects, Utopia Station boasts a menu inspired by the era and region.

Rather than limit the space to dining experiences, Royal Caribbean has future plans to introduce “short-form” narratives, such as wine tasting while soaring over Napa Valley or whiskey sampling in the Tennessee mountains.

The Pesky Parrot Bar will replace the Bionic Bar in the Royal Promenade, aligning with the ship’s design for brief tropical escapades! This Caribbean-themed bar will serve fruity cocktails featuring rum, tequila, and gin, expected to be a favorite due to its central location.

Situated on the pool deck, Lime & Coconut, Royal Caribbean’s lavish pool bar, will have three venues onboard.

“Lime & Coconut will greatly open up the pool deck, allowing guests to utilize the entire area for pool parties and evening events,” remarked Julie Ansorge, Product Owner, Product Development for Royal Caribbean International.

Regardless of whether you are a loyal Royal Caribbean enthusiast or a cruise novice, Utopia of the Seas has been meticulously crafted to embody the essence of the brand.

With a limited 3 to 4-day window onboard, the intention is to stir excitement among guests, encouraging them to explore other vessels within the fleet – from the colossal Icon of the Seas to smaller ships focusing on port-intensive routes.

Utopia of the Seas’s maiden voyage is scheduled to set off from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida on July 19

The initial voyage was originally slated for July 22; however, construction progressed faster than anticipated. Consequently, the 3-night debut cruise will visit Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, Bahamas ahead of schedule.

Inaugural voyages mark significant milestones in a ship’s life, signifying its readiness for regular guest services.

These voyages follow a series of trial runs during which crew members familiarize themselves with daily operations, ensuring seamless operations before welcoming paying visitors onboard.
