Releasing a Bugatti Chiron on the challenging ascent of the Goodwood Festival of Speed is akin to requesting a superhero to construct a simple treehouse: a display of unmatched capability in an unexpected setting. Nonetheless, the chance to observe Bugatti’s latest 1,480-horsepower supercar unleashing its captivating performance in the open is a treat not to be missed. Hence, we are far from disappointed that the hyper-luxury division of the VW Group transported its new wünderwagen to the renowned automotive gathering across the Channel last weekend.

Furthermore, we are particularly pleased that Bugatti chose to equip the Chiron’s occupants with a GoPro, offering a firsthand perspective of navigating a $2.6 million supercar up a narrow, twisting road. Even with driver Andy Wallace smoothly shifting through the gears and only sporadically engaging the throttle for brief moments, the impressive Bugatti accelerates time itself outside. While reaching speeds of only about 117 mph during the run, a couple of these short bursts of acceleration unequivocally demonstrate that this car will embody the leather-clad ballistic missile we all anticipated.
