Mitsubishi is providing a specific discount to buyers to facilitate the purchase of their latest car models. This offer can be combined with ongoing dealership promotions. When exchanging your vehicle, you will receive a $750 discount on any model, provided that you fulfill the following conditions: you are located in Minnesota and have experienced a theft of your catalytic converter. It’s true.
Per a report by CarsDirect, dealers were recently informed via a bulletin about this special offer. The widespread theft of catalytic converters in Minnesota has reached such levels that legislation was proposed this week to address the issue. In St. Paul alone, over 300 catalytic converters were stolen between Jan. 1 and Feb. 15. With replacement costs averaging around $3,200 if not covered by insurance, motorists are becoming increasingly desperate. The proposed legislation would make possessing a catalytic converter a criminal offense in the state unless adequate ownership is proven.

Due to the high value of palladium in catalytic converters, they are being targeted for theft even in extremely cold conditions. The ease of removing a catalytic converter from a vehicle, often in a matter of seconds, adds to their appeal. Protecting catalytic converters is challenging as they are typically positioned at the base of the car within the exhaust system, necessitating exposure to function properly. Law enforcement has suggested surveillance cameras and alarms as deterrents, though their effectiveness remains limited.
Nevertheless, if your catalytic converter is stolen in Minnesota, you may be eligible for a discounted Mitsubishi model. This offer is not simply a ploy by Mitsubishi to boost car sales and does not provide a guarantee against future catalytic converter theft incidents on your new Mitsubishi.
