Discovering a magnificent car hidden in the forest, slowly being reclaimed by nature, is truly heart-wrenching. Especially when it’s a Jaguar E-Type, entwined with vines, moss, and serving as a haven for woodland creatures. However, the esteemed experts at E-Type UK could not bear to witness this fate and undertook the rescue of a 1964 E-Type Series I Coupe which had languished in the woods for three decades. Through their meticulous efforts, the derelict aluminum shell was transmuted into a pristine specimen now valued at over $100,000.
As reported by The Sun, the forsaken E-Type lay abandoned amidst the foliage on an estate in Gloucestershire. Originally destined for restoration by its owner, the car was forsaken due to the owner’s illness, allowing nature to reclaim it. Subsequently, the car was entrusted to the skilled hands of E-Type UK, who dedicated countless laborious hours to revive the E-Type to its former glory.
Adding to the intrigue, the vehicle itself represents an authentic Series I 3.2 coupe, part of the initial production run of 5,830 units. Later models featured larger 3.6- and 3.8-liter iterations of Jaguar’s renowned straight-six engine.
Despite the total deterioration of its interior and the complete collapse of its roof, remarkably, the E-Type retained its distinctive silhouette, independent rear suspension assembly, subframe, and other essential components intact.
For the refurbishment, original parts were procured, while irreplaceable components were meticulously recreated, such as a period-appropriate roof and floor pan. The body specialist at the workshop ensured every aspect was restored to perfection through meticulous alignment checks. Finally, the E-Type received a fresh coat of the original Opalescent Silver Grey paint, followed by over 60 hours of polishing to achieve factory-level precision.
Considering the meticulous restoration process and utilization of contemporary tools, it’s safe to assume this E-Type surpasses even its original factory condition.
The car’s value has now exceeded £100,000 or $123,467 USD after undergoing a thorough restoration process.
