The Italian national police department owns a number of Lamborghini Huracans that serve as both regular patrol cars and for the transportation of organs. This isn’t the first time we’ve covered this story. Recently, law enforcement officers utilized one of these vehicles to swiftly transport two kidneys to Rome and Modena. Interestingly, they always make sure to document the moment with photographs.
A series of images shared on social media showcased the Lamborghini carrying out its vital task by delivering the donated organs to hospitals located in the mentioned cities. The car sports a special custom livery for this purpose and is equipped with a refrigerated front trunk and other adjustments related to law enforcement to ensure the job gets done efficiently. Noteworthy is that in late 2020, one of these Huracans covered a distance of over 300 miles in just two hours, averaging a speed of 145 mph.
Although no specific travel time was mentioned on this occasion, it’s common for these deliveries to be expedited. In situations where traditional air transport is impractical due to weather conditions or cost constraints, these vehicles prove to be invaluable. Surprisingly, operating a Lamborghini is a much more cost-effective option compared to using a helicopter, particularly those powered by gas turbine engines, which are commonly relied upon by most hospitals.
The Lamborghini Huracan in question was procured directly from the manufacturer back in 2017. Specifically, it is a Huracan LP 610-4 model, featuring all-wheel drive and a 610-horsepower naturally aspirated V10 engine – more than ample power to transport precious organs.
During its previous outing, the Italian police even shared a video capturing the Lamborghini’s swift journey to the hospital through the scenic Italian roads. This encapsulates the epitome of a Lamborghini being utilized for an honorable cause, accompanied by an empowering soundtrack and the distinctive roar of the V10 exhaust.
