Infiniti has a rich history in the SUV market. Contrary to its rivals, the premium car manufacturer unveiled the QX4, based on the Pathfinder, over two decades ago. Since then, it has introduced several crossover SUVs, with the largest being the QX80.

Originally sharing a platform with the Nissan Armada, the QX80 succeeded the mid-sized QX4. It can be likened to how the Lexus LX 570 relates to the Toyota Land Cruiser. Priced at $63,850 for the previous 2017 model, the QX80 is more affordable compared to the Lexus body-on-frame SUV, starting at a hefty $89,980. This alone explains its higher sales figures than its Japanese counterpart.

The robust QX80 may not have been considered the most visually appealing in the family, but Infiniti aims to change this narrative with its latest model. The QX80 Monograph Concept for this year showcased a more streamlined design, and the automaker has indeed delivered. A recent photoshoot by Car and Driver showcases the all-new QX80, now seamlessly fitting in with the lineup.

Details on pricing for the 2018 model or other specifications are not available yet. Expected to be equipped with the same 5.6-liter V8 engine, improvements in fuel efficiency are likely to stem from other optimizations such as potential weight reductions. The updated SUV is set to make its first public appearance on November 14th in Dubai.
