If the exquisite design, custom engine, and hefty price tag of the 2022 Maserati MC20 caught your eye, you may feel disheartened to learn that the initial batch of these vehicles has already been claimed. No more. If you have your sights set on owning an MC20, you will need to wait.

During Monterey Car Week, William Peffer, the CEO of Maserati North America, mentioned to The Drive that all initially designated MC20 units for 2022 have already been reserved. “The cars we have allocated for 2022 have all been reserved,” he stated. “All of them.”

Just as a reminder: Although the MC20 was unveiled in 2020, it will be released in late 2021 as a 2022 model. A Maserati spokesperson confirmed, “All MC20s that were allocated for our region (both North and South America) are reserved for model year 2022. Customers interested in model year 2023 can contact their local dealer to express interest.”

Fortunately, it appears that there will not be a limit on MC20 production numbers. Peffer mentioned, “We don’t discuss specific numbers, whether it be production or sales, but our goal is to manufacture according to demand, possibly even slightly lagging.” So, if you missed out on a 2022 MC20, there might still be hope for a 2023 model.

What makes the MC20—or Maserati Corse 2020—so significant is that it’s Maserati’s first halo car since the MC12 was introduced 16 years ago. It features a carbon-fiber monocoque and is equipped with a brand-new, Maserati-manufactured twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine boasting a claimed 621 horsepower. This engine is exclusive to the MC20, thereby enhancing its exclusivity. Additionally, a convertible and electric variant are currently in development.

For now, if you’re eager to see how the new MC20 handles, don’t hesitate to check out our comprehensive first drive review!
