According to Peffer, the Grecale will differentiate itself from competitors primarily through an essential trait: driving enjoyment. And in line with its 2022 lineup, the compact SUV will be made available in three variations, including GT, Modena, and Trofeo.
“A key aspect of achieving this is maintaining consistency within your product lineup,” Peffer explained. “For us, this entails the three different trims. Therefore, we will introduce a Trofeo edition of [the Grecale], a Modena variant, and a GT model.”
The GT embodies Maserati’s “urban, minimalist, and contemporary essence,” while vehicles trimmed with Modena flair boast enhanced aesthetics both inside and out—a more upscale appeal, so to speak. Then comes the Trofeo, tailored for driving enthusiasts seeking heightened power and superior handling.
Regrettably, the details on the remaining components remain shrouded in mystery. The other Trofeo models in the lineup—Ghibli, Levante, Quattroporte—all feature high-revving twin-turbo V8 engines, considered by Maserati as the essence of its Trofeo range. This being said, envisioning such a substantial powerplant being integrated into a vehicle sharing the Giorgio platform with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio seems challenging. However, unforeseen developments are not unprecedented, hence, patience remains paramount.
Maserati aims to unveil the Grecale in November as a 2022 model, with the details on its Trofeo variant likely to accompany the release.
