Discover the Streamlined, More Potent 2022 Genesis G70

The G70 has inherited the refreshed design elements of the G80, resulting in a visually appealing appearance. The distinctive stacked dual-bar headlights and taillights strike a balance between familiarity and futurism, complemented by sleek LEDs framing the bodywork between them. Genesis mentions that the taillight design draws inspiration from the wings of the Genesis logo, and the execution is commendable. 

The vehicle sports a body-colored rear diffuser and side air vents behind the front fenders. The rear end is accented by oval exhaust tips. 

Internally, the updated G70 boasts a 10.25-inch infotainment display atop the dashboard. It showcases a unique Genesis UI design and is capable of receiving over-the-air updates. Apple CarPlay is supported, alongside the Valet mode. The redesigned G70 retains its wireless charging pad, albeit now horizontal to suit various smartphone sizes. 

Exciting enhancements await with the new G70. Although the manual transmission option will no longer be available from Genesis, the base G70 will receive a beefier engine, according to a report from Car & Driver. The base model will house the 290-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four already found in the G80, surpassing the current model’s 252-hp 2.0-liter turbo unit. There are speculations that the G70’s existing 3.3-liter V6 will be replaced by the G80’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, although unconfirmed as of now. 

Extra treat: There have been sightings of a wagon version of the G70 being tested by Hyundai, although its arrival in the United States remains uncertain. Despite managing our expectations, the sedan’s impressive appearance certainly sparks interest.
