The Lamborghini Revuelto Showcases as a 1,001-Horsepower, 9,500-RPM Hybrid V12 Aventador Successor

Since the era of the Miura, Lamborghini has crafted itself around mid-engined, V12 flagship cars aimed at captivating your senses. This tradition was carried forth by the Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador, and now, enters the maiden hybrid era in Lamborghini’s V12 legacy. Introducing the Lamborghini Revuelto: a 1,001-horsepower plug-in hybrid hypercar that will proudly represent the naturally aspirated V12 heritage as long as there’s fuel to power it.

The Revuelto—pronunciation a challenge—is slightly larger than the previously expansive Aventador it succeeds, and once again created around a carbon fiber monocoque. Its framework is 10% lighter and 25% more rigid, enhancing its front subframe from aluminum to carbon—the rear section remains metallic yet lighter and stiffer. Clad in mainly carbon body with meticulously optimized aerodynamics, some being active, to significantly reduce aerodynamic drag and elevate front and rear downforce. All in dedication, naturally, to the 12 cylinders located behind its passengers.

The standout attribute of the Revuelto lies in its powertrain, spearheaded by a brand-new 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 boasting a racing-style dry sump. This happens to be the lightest, most potent V12 Lamborghini has ever produced, featuring a higher compression ratio compared to the Aventador and an impressive rev limit set at 9,500 rpm. Maximum power peaks at 9,250 rpm, delivering 813 horsepower with a torque output of up to 535 lb-ft—this does not even include the electrical contribution.

This power is channeled to the rear wheels via a novel, rear-positioned eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that is lighter and more responsive than the seven-speed counterpart in the Huracan. In addition, they are aided by a motor connected to the transmission, which also serves as a starter-generator, drawing power from a 3.8-kWh battery situated in the central tunnel, replacing the transmission location in the Aventador.

This battery unit also energizes a motor in each front wheel, granting electric torque vectoring all-wheel drive capability. The Revuelto can operate in an electric-only mode with 177 horsepower and front-wheel propulsion, or awaken its V12 to combine forces for supercar-grade performance. This results in an overall system output of 1,001 horsepower and 1,051 lb-ft of torque, enabling a sprint from zero to 62 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds and a top speed exceeding 217 mph.

Such immense power requires substantial braking, hence the Revuelto is equipped with carbon-ceramic “plus” brakes featuring 10-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. These are supported by regenerative braking to recharge the battery, a task that can also be accomplished by the engine within a brisk six-minute timeframe. Together, these advancements contribute to a remarkable 30% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the Aventador Ultimae.

Enhanced agility is anticipated with a more evenly distributed 44-56 weight balance and the inclusion of semi-active suspension wishbones. The Revuelto’s sway bars are sturdier and its steering more responsive, utilizing four-wheel steering to amplify maneuverability. Its tire footprint is marginally larger than the Aventador’s, with rear tires expanding up to 355s on 22-inch rims. Despite the extensive use of composites, the Revuelto retains a weighty stature at 3,907 pounds in its dry form.
