In a brazen heist on Tuesday night, criminals made off with over $3.75 million in engines from Jaguar Land Rover’s facility in Solihull, England, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The theft reportedly took place around 10:30 p.m. and unfolded in plain sight of security cameras. The robbers gained entry through a gate manned by security personnel, attached their truck to a trailer loaded with engines, and drove away—all within a mere six minutes.
It is suspected that the thieves returned later that night with the same truck, this time connecting it to another trailer filled with even more valuable car parts.
Factory workers were left “stunned” by the incident. “The entire place is in an uproar about it,” a source informed the Birmingham Mail.
A spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover confirmed that they are collaborating with West Midlands Police to investigate the engine theft. “A reward is available for anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of these engines,” the spokesperson added.
After the robbery, police managed to locate the stolen trailers, but the engines and the suspects remain at large.
“Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the engines or the individuals involved in this theft should contact Solihull police,” the JLR spokesperson urged..
