A prototype of the upcoming generation of Audi’s Q3 compact crossover has been sighted once again. The vehicle seems to be in the final stages of development, as indicated by its minimal camouflage and production-ready lighting.

The existing Q3 was introduced in 2018 as a 2019 model. The overhauled third-generation model is anticipated to debut either later this year or early next year, with plans for a U.S. release slated for the 2026 model year.

The new Q3 appears to maintain similar dimensions to the current version, which is logical since both models are likely to share the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform. However, the new Q3 will utilize an updated variant of this platform, known as MQB Evo.

Design-wise, the new Q3 showcases split headlights, featuring slender daytime running lights reminiscent of those found on Audi’s recently introduced Q6 E-Tron electric compact crossover. The grille has also been redesigned for this model, and at the rear, there is a light strip that introduces a new design theme for the Q3.

Some prototypes are equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with the charging port positioned on the front fender on the driver’s side. While a mild-hybrid option may be available, Audi has yet to provide detailed information regarding the vehicle’s specifications.

A future RS Q3, featuring a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 engine, is also expected to be part of the lineup, likely serving as a final offering for this engine type. After 2026, Audi will cease launching vehicles powered by internal combustion engines.

Additionally, a more coupe-style Q3 Sportback is reportedly in development. Audi has not sold the current Q3 Sportback in the United States, and it remains uncertain if this trend will continue with the new generation.
