Nissan is preparing to introduce seven fresh vehicles in the United States over the next three years, and among them is an updated Murano, a prototype of which has been sighted for the first time.
Expected to make its entrance later this year, possibly as a 2025 model, the new Murano will showcase a streamlined, nearly coupe-like appearance reminiscent of Nissan’s Chill-Out concept from several years ago. Similar to that concept, the new Murano also seems to be without Nissan’s V-shaped corporate grille, famously known as the V-Motion.
The profile closely resembles the Nissan Ariya EV, which is a positive attribute. Transitioning to the rear, robust contours along with wraparound taillights and a rooftop wing spoiler provide a hint of Porsche SUV characteristics. The taillights create a luminous bar spanning the width of the back, only interrupted by a Nissan emblem placed in the middle.
Regarding the interior, the designers have opted for the prevalent modern dashboard consisting of a single display panel containing separate digital screens for both the gauge cluster and infotainment system. A touch of sophistication is introduced with stitched trim adorning the top of the dashboard. The overall layout echoes the aesthetics found in the Ariya once again.

To minimize expenses, the fresh Murano is anticipated to leverage the front-wheel-drive foundation of the ongoing Murano being sold since the 2015 model year. There are likely to be some crucial alterations to the mechanics, such as a speculated transition to a turbo-4 engine from the present model’s V-6. This possible change would coincide with a shift to a torque converter-based 9-speed automatic instead of the current model’s CVT.
When Nissan revealed its strategy for seven new U.S. vehicles back in March, the lineup was promised to include electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and even series hybrid models, which Nissan terms E-Power vehicles. Yet, it remains uncertain if any electrification is on the horizon for the new Murano.
Additionally, Nissan is set to unveil an updated Armada later this year in conjunction with a redesigned Patrol available internationally. The new Armada will share similarities with the redesigned 2025 Infiniti QX80 that premiered in March and will hit the market this summer. A refreshed Frontier pickup has also been observed during testing.
