The 2025 Honda Civic Sport Hybrid will lead the standard Civic lineup, effectively replacing the previous 1.5-liter turbocharged Sport models. With the power of two electric motors, this hybrid promises an impressive 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, ensuring a brisk performance.

Here’s a breakdown of the power levels for the 2025 Civic. While the Type R is considered a separate model due to its unique engine, I have included its specifications for context:

LX and Sport Sport/Touring Hybrid Si Type R
158 hp 200 hp* 200 hp 315 hp
138 lb-ft 232 lb-ft* 192 lb-ft 310 lb-ft
*Specifications for the 2025 Hybrid are not finalized (Honda uses the term “anticipated”)

For 2025, Honda is introducing four trims for the Civic, excluding the Si and Type R performance variants. The LX and Sport models will maintain the current 2.0-liter non-turbo engine, while the new Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid will utilize two electric motors. These hybrids are expected to achieve a combined fuel economy of 50 mpg and outperform the existing 1.5-liter turbocharged Sport models.

I have confirmed with Honda representatives that the base engine will carry over, and the Si and Type R variants will remain available for the 2025 model year.

Details regarding the hybrid system are still to be announced, but a press release indicates it includes two robust electric motors designed with a focus on “refinement” and managing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).

In terms of driving experience, Honda has introduced Linear Shift Control, which simulates the rev feel typically linked with traditional drivetrains shifting gears during acceleration. Additionally, drivers can choose from four levels of regenerative braking using paddles on the steering wheel.

The hybrid models will come with a body-colored headlamp garnish and a front lower spoiler, while the Sport Touring Hybrid trim will feature a new wheel design.

Inside, a new grey interior color will be introduced. The Sport Touring Hybrid will also include integrated Google features (Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play apps) along with a complimentary three-year unlimited data plan included in the car’s price.

According to Honda’s press release, hybrids represented over one-quarter of their sales in 2023, with expectations for 40% of 2025 Civics to be hybrids. The 2025 sedan models will be available at dealerships starting in June, followed by the hatchback versions. Pricing details have yet to be revealed.

I do not anticipate any modifications to the Si or Type R models for 2025, nor have any changes been announced.
