BMW has revamped various models this year, and the most recent one to undergo substantial improvements is the 2025 X3. The upcoming X3, scheduled for a US release later in the year, will come in two variations: the X3 30 xDrive and the X3 M50 xDrive. Interestingly, BMW has chosen not to use the “i” label for these new hybrids, reserving it for its fully electric vehicle lineup.

Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine coupled with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, the X3 30 xDrive generates 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This setup enhances the previous model’s performance while maintaining a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 6.0 seconds and a maximum speed of 130 mph. On the other hand, the X3 M50 xDrive flaunts a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine with hybrid support, delivering 393 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. It can sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph with optional high-performance tires, or 130 mph with standard all-season tires. Both variants come with all-wheel drive and BMW’s eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2025 X3’s exterior dimensions have slightly increased, measuring 187.2 inches in length, 75.6 inches in width, and 65.4 inches in height. The wheelbase remains constant at 112.8 inches. The X3 30 xDrive boasts larger kidney grilles with vertical and diagonal bars, L-shaped indicators in the headlights, and neatly integrated tailpipes. It rides on standard 19-inch alloy wheels that can be upgraded to either 20- or 21-inch options. In contrast, the X3 M50 xDrive sports 20-inch alloy wheels, M-specific grilles, quad tailpipes, BMW’s illuminated grille, Adaptive M Sport suspension, and variable sport steering.

Internally, the X3 is outfitted with the BMW Curved Display and the iDrive 9 infotainment system, which debuted in the 2024 BMW X1. An array of new features includes QuickSelect, offering convenient access to frequently used functions. Cargo capacity is ample, providing 31.5 cubic feet of space that expands to 67.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. With the optional trailer hitch, the X3 can tow up to 4,850 pounds.

The new X3 also comes with adjustable heated sports seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a selection of three seat hues. An optional M Veganza/Alcantara blend is offered, and for the first time, a woven fabric instrument panel is available. There are 10 exterior color options for the M50 xDrive and 11 for the X3 30 xDrive, including the new Dune Grey metallic. Additionally, more than 15 BMW Individual paint finishes are at your disposal.

The starting price for the 2025 X3 30 xDrive is $50,675, while the more athletic X3 M50 xDrive kicks off at $65,275. These prices include a $1,175 destination charge and reflect moderate increases over the 2024 models. Manufacturing will take place at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, and sales are scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024.
