The upcoming 2025 BMW i5, which is the electric variant of the 5-Series luxurious midsize sedan, remains nearly unaltered for its sophomore year in the market.
The starting cost is $68,275, encompassing a mandatory $1,175 destination fee, is targeted towards the base i5 eDrive40. This rear-wheel-drive model generates 335 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque from its single engine, enabling it to go from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, as per BMW estimates.

The intermediate model of the series remains the dual-motor all-wheel-drive i5 xDrive40, which commences at $71,275. Equipped with a second engine propelling the front axle, this version of the i5 is rated at 389 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. BMW states a 0-60 mph timing of 5.2 seconds.
The more athletic i5 M60 still holds the crown of the series with an $85,275 price prior to any additional customizations. The M60 also utilizes a dual-motor propulsion system but with 590 hp and 586 lb-ft of torque. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in a BMW-estimated 3.7 seconds, while the adaptive suspension and improved brakes offer sharper handling.
2025 BMW i5
All i5 models persist with an 84.3-kWh battery bundle. The EPA range assessments are yet to be disclosed, but as a reference, the 2024 i5 acquired a rating of up to 295 miles in the basic eDrive40 form, 266 miles in xDrive40 guise, and 253 miles in M60 form. The topmost range ratings for each variant apply to specific wheel and tire combinations.
The petrol versions of the 5-Series are also making a comeback in 2025, along with the introduction of a new M5 featuring a 717-hp plug-in hybrid power source. The M5 sedan was revealed in June and will reach the U.S. later this year carrying a starting price of $120,675. A 2025 BMW M5 Touring wagon will be showcased during the 2024 Monterey Car Week and is also in the pipeline for the U.S. However, the electric i5 Touring wagon will not be offered in this market.
